Acrylic of an old lab waiting for his friend
My name is Liz Ellis and I am a graduate of James Madison University with a major in art. I live in Central Virginia with my husband Gary, my dog Stoli and our 3 cats that were adopted from our local SPCA when I was a volunteer there. Since retiring I now have time to go back to painting. I have always been involved with animals either through my jobs with veterinarians or volunteer work at our shelter. I love the outdoors and gardening, and that also is reflected in my art. However my true love is the animals. They have been such a positive influence in my life. I can't imaging my life without them in it. Cole belongs to my second son, Haden, who has married and now lives with his wife,Ellie, in Bremen Georgia. He is a minister with a local United Methodist Church there. Cole is 14 years old this month and was an SPCA "special" back in 1996. My eldest son referred to him as a "babe magnetic" and asked to borrow him. Cole spent two years as a "Hokie" and attended the Kappa Sigma fraternity. A poor canine roommate forced Cole to return home, never getting his degree. Liz has done portraits of our two Irish Setters, Barry and Neff, (deceased), Cole, Lee (deceased), another LAB mix, and Bella, our 5 year old Golden. We now have an additional 8 month old male Golden, Caleb, who is waiting for his portrait. We have received many wonderful comments on our gallery of dogs, and are excited about Caleb's portrait in a few months. Liz has the gift of capturing your pet's personality exactly...breathtaking. I would not have any other area animal portrait artist do our dogs except Liz. She is one of a kind. Anne Conrad
